finally got my 1972 50 electric shift on the water did fairly well but had to keep the cover off would die was a lot of condensate inside not sure whats going on




sidebar the electric shift worked great with my modifications see earlier post
exactly as should found a switch at surplus that locks up and in center and is momentary down works great for foward nuetral and reverse

did you reseal the hole the shift wire goes thru? exhaust housing seal midsection to lower unit?

The wire has ribs on it that act as o-rings in the hole. It has to be pulled up far enough to get the ribs into the hole. That's all the seal that is needed. Any added goop (other than oil) may make it difficult to get out next time.

regretfully i have a hodge podge of parts motor lower unit 1972 50 electric
tilt assy clamp from a 1978 as is the engine cover and possibly the mid section
nothings simple
