Is back to work, it was the capacitor again. Obviously the cap was able to get the fan running but not strong enough to get the compressor running. I wonder what is killing these caps, is the second since april....

Your unit is going out....Next year, you won't be able to dodge the bullet..
Heads up.....Start saving for a NEW unit.

Heat is not so bad (to go without), but cooling is another story as you've seen!
Time for a new unit!

The cap may not be bad. If your unit was hot and kicked out on thermal, then given several hours to cool down (thus relieving the head pressure) could make it look as if the cap is bad. Just because your fins look good on the outside, does not mean there is a load of crap packed in between them. When your fan is running, it should suck a piece of paper to the fins of the coil. It should do this over the entire coil. If the paper does not hold to the coil in spots, then those areas can be clogged and not allowing the freon to be condensed down into a liquid.

Sorta like trying to kick a 500cc one cylinder dirt bike without a compression relief.

Not to sidetrack the thread, but been there, done that. It threw my sorry rear in the ditch. Then my friend (boss at the time) made fun of me and tried it himself. Broke his ankle.

The fans are clean. I did use my compressor to clean it. If I recall right Idid shut the unit for at least a day before the day I changed the cap. Anyway, is working now and that is a good thing!
