It's with a heavy heart that I have to report that I sold my Starcraft SS. Blame it on Craigslist. It all started 2 weeks ago. A 1976 17.5ft Lund VFR popped up an an hour and a half away at a great price. Nothing against Starcrafts, but I have always been partial to aluminum Lund boats, so with the promise to SWMBO that I would sell my Starcraft and other Lund, we took a ride(with cash in pocket). Turns out the boat was in amazing condition. The p.o. had the boat for 2 years and bought it from the original owner. That owner had the origninal full top, sides and bow cover still in the box, they still look like new. The boat it 17.5ft and my SS is 16ft, the beam is the same but the difference in the amount of room is amazing. The po had already lowered his price twice and I felt it fair so I paid him and brought it home. I swapped trailers with the one I was building for the Starcraft, only a few adjustments where necessary. I sold the Starcraft the next day to a neighbor. Still need to sell the Lund Pike. I am very happy with my decision, this boat needs nothing but I want to do many things to it to make it more fishable. I will still be hanging out here in the Starcraft area, the people here in this forum are the best and we are all tinheads. The Lund section is pretty sleepy but I'll post my Lund stuff over there.

These pictures are the P.O.'s from CL:

Well at least you got your vote in on CBK's poll prior to selling the SS:p

In all honesty I can't blame you, Lund makes a great aluminum boat and in your area they are certainly preferred over other brands, that is no secret.

The first thing I thought when I saw this post was...I hope he kept the trailer after all that nice work:D:D

Got any more pics of this Lund?

Is the splashwell smaller? Looks like a late 70s or early 80s vintage, what year is the hull/motor?

Re: Confession-the Starcraft is gone

I just couldn't not use my trailer after all that work, Huron, luckily it will work really well, better than the one that it was on. The Lund is a '76 model. It had no motor on it, which is why I got it cheap. I will be putting my F50 Yamaha on it. The PO had a Honda 50 on it, he said it did 30mph top end and cruised 25 mph real nice. It'll be somewhat underpowered, I know, but that will give me something to look forward to later, a bigger motor. Thanks for all the well wishes. If I had originally got an 18ft SS then I probably wouldn't have done this deal, but I was getting two foot envy before I even got the Starcraft in the water. I don't have any of my own pictures yet, right now the boat is hanging from sling straps in my garage while I finish up the trailer at work. I hope to splash the Lund next weekend. I put the Pike on CL about 6 hours ago and have already got 10 responses. Hopefully I'll get enough from that deal to buy one of those new GPS Minnkota I-Pilot trolling motors, that would be sweet!

It's amazing the difference between a 16 foot and an 18 footer. I went with the 18 right off the bat and I'm happier.

Congratulations on the upgrade. Now the musky livewell will be easier to install. Lund is an an awesome boat, but you all ready know that.

Stick around my esox brother. We'll swap stories about the 5 footer that followed our bucktail back to the boat.

Could we all bow our heads in a moment of silence on this sad and tragic day.....

May God bless motorpsykler and may God bless America.

Ah, I suppose if you arn't going to have a Starcraft you might as well have a Lund (actually they are sweet rigs).:D

Cheers!
