Confirming Water Leak

Have a new issue, '97 4.3 GL. Saw a few similar posts, but wanted to confirm separately. Had a drip on the water today,right out of the back of what I'm guessing is the circulating pump? It's the the back of the upper pulley. Please let me know if this is a circulator pump, what repair I would need and if it is urgent. Thanks.

Water circulation pump, same as a water pump on your car. Yes, it's urgent. I'd fix it before using it. Why risk a motor?

Definitely the water circulation pump. The dripping will become stream and once that happens, it will be constant, whether the boat is running or not, not exactly good for it. Also, the water going over the bearing will end up washing and mixing with the grease, leaving the possibility of seizing the pump. They are not cheap but can be rebuilt. You can take the pump apart, then remove the seal. A seal supply house or industrial bearing supply place can match it up. All it is is a standard oil seal. It's only a few bucks, along with a new O ring, you will be good to go in a couple hours. If you go that route, careful removing the old seal from the pump, if you scratch up the shaft, you WILL need a new pump. Good luck.
