They never made it clear about just checking , they just said do it. Do i need a rpm gauge for the timing ?

the Delco EST distributor has an all electronic advance. as long as your at idle, your good

that is also why you need to put the distributor in base timing mode. Just like many GM vehicles of the late 80's and 90's

Just to clarify because the point might be getting missed, putting the motor in base timing mode changes nothing. It is placed in this mode to accurately check timing only

i will check timing tomorrow morning then ..

also I unplugged the rpm purple connector and after that my ran fine for a min. Then it ran like crap , even after I put the connector back.. I think my carb just got more clogged or something messed up more lol
it runs as it almost out of gas, but I do have like 2 gal left though
