confused over controls

i just bought a 1998 johnson 50hp that came with original side mount remote and cables. it has all functions in the control. my question is i have to mount this on my center console. how can i do it? can the handle be switched to the other side of the box?? it needs to mount on the right side of my console and won't work in present configuration. please help i have no more money for a 350.00 binnacle mount from evinrude/johnson.

you need a binacle type, top mount.
craigslist has them all the time for less than $100.
put yours on the list to defray the cost.

yes the handle will move to the other side. should be a big screw on the back of the control in the center, it holds the handle. remove screw, remove handle and swap.
