Hey all...been awhile.
maybe I am just thick in the head today...but I am confused by something on my steering.
The basics/background:
Teleflex Rack Dual cable steering, same side of boat
87 Johnson 150 GT
Motor was orginally hooked up with just one cable when I bought it. I purchased and installed the T&R Marine Single to Dual cable adaption kit (from iBoats).
Okay...so I put the cables through the tilt tube and the T&R adaptor...that part is easy. I am not sure I understand the cable ends being bolted together on one link arm as the instructions indicate. I always assumed dual cable steering was...one cable pushes and one pulls. I thought the one push and one pull is what kept the torque of the wheel will driving and stablized the steering. If they are both pushing and/or pulling attatched to one link arm...what is the advantge to the dual cable?
Does anyone have a picture of dual cable on the same side of the boat they could post so I can see it?
or an good explanation??
