I just set a new personal record for the shortest job I ever had. 1 week and half a day. Just got word that the biz is closing. That's the second one I've closed down in less than 2 months.

And Junior braggs that the economy is strong? Bullschidt!

I think it's time to get out of the marine business and flip burgers or something. ;)

Nobody hire me! I'm bad luck.

Willy, it costs 500 bucks to form an "S" Corporation (free if you do it yourself). Do your own thing and pay yourself rather than busting your butt for someone else. Choose your market carefully and go for it.

Re: Congratulations to ME!

OOPS! I just reaized I posted this in the wrong place. Sorry about that. I have other irons in the fire, but man, what a spring so far. At least it can't get any worse. ;) I hope!

Long as I'm here I might as well ask a propeller question. I'm putting a 1970 100Hp Evinrude on a 1978 16' Sea Star fiberglass V-hull. I figure a 21 pitch for speed, 17 for pulling, and 19 for average. I have the 19 now, but live near a shallow lake and fully intend to have at least one more. Does this sound about right?

Ouch, sorry to hear about the job Willy.

It could be worse. About 10 years or so ago, my wife seemed to be on a kill the boss, or the business kick. First place went out of business. Second place, the boss died after 8 months. Third place, boss died after 6 months. I was sort of nervous there for a bit, she was saying Im the head of the family. :)

Try signing papers to have a new house built in the morning -- and receiving walking papers in the afternoon.

Re: Congratulations to ME!

I just accepted a job at one of the other places I was checking out before accepting the last job. I should've taken that one in the first place, but both are mom and pop dealers and both were very good choices...I thought. ;)

Say omek,

That's the problem I had all my productive life......either I had the money (sorta) or the time. But I never could get the two in sync so that I had time (to fish) and the money to afford it. Grin.

Mark
