they decided that with all the goings on this year that they voted down a 30 thousand dollar cost of living raise .. that would of gave them 190 thousand dollars if passed..

I may be mistaken, but I believe the COL increase was $3100, not $30,000.

$30,000 of $190,000 is some thing like a 16% raise. If that’s a cost of living increase I want mine!!!!

But what you said was $30,000, Crabby, "30 thousand dollars".<br /><br />$3100 would have been a 1.9% raise on their $160,000 salary. No way would I do what they do for a crummy $160,000, but I sure like their retirement and healthcare plans.<br /><br />I sure hope my COL increase in SS this year is more than 1.9%, and that wont even cover the increased cost of energy (gas, propane and electricity).

1.9% ain't a bad raise on their current salary. Every day working man is lucky to get five or six cents and hour....per year. Some don't even get a cost of living increase......as in most don't.<br /><br />I certainly hope your COL increase is bigger than that also JB. But....wouldn't hold my breath.

yep their cost of living wage was going to almost equal my US Navy disability retirement pay for a year . I should have gone into politics instead of the USN. myself I am waiting for them to vote for term limits of no more than 2 consecutive terms and no retirement from congress,senate or house. only then would we see any real change. I wonder how old I will be when that happens?

"Cost of living" is a socialistic concept.<br /><br />Make your own raise by investing.<br /><br />$160k FOR A PERSON HOLDING THAT POWER IS-nothing.<br /><br />I agree that Congress' ability to vote, on their own future, is ludicrous.<br /><br />Let's all vote to have THEM join the SAME health care and SS system we peons MUST live under.<br /><br />That will never happen. The US voting public is disconnected and apathetic.
