I'm exploring the ins/outs and benefits of connecting my twin 2005 Johnson DF140's to a Garmin 4210 mfd via NMEA 2000 in order to display engine info. Looking for info, suggestions, advice, and voices of experience.

Am having difficulty figuring out the necessary parts and procedure to make the connections from the engines to the NMEA 2000 backbone - any advice?

Also, has anyone done this? What engine functions/data show up on the Garmin? Are you satisfied?

At the present I have Johnson engine check instruments w/lights and sound alarms, Suzuki tachs and voltmeters, and digital hourmeters that I added. The DF140's were installed as a repower project by the former owner, replacing Suzuki 2 strokes.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks Bruce - I will try that, altho my Johnson dealer tells me there's little if any commonality between etec and Johnzuki engines......worth a look tho.
