Connecting a DVD Recorder with HDTV DVI

Has anybody connected a DVD recorder having a HD Cable reciever?? My output I am using for cable to tv is a DVI cable.. My connections I have on my DVD Recorder are component/RCA..

I have connected coax cable to my coax in on my DVD recorder and coax out back to my HD reciever. DVI connections are cable box to DVI TV.. But I only can record basic cable channels since the DVD channels only go to 125. ANy help would be appreciated..

Most boxes have many different connections that can be used at the same time

i use the HD connections to the TV and the S-Video to my recorder
