1972 65 Hspr. Evinrude. Connection(Plug) between motor and outside electrical works at times and other times doesn't. Would like to bypass the plug and hook up the wires to each other and also check out each wire to make sure there not broken. Not sure about how to identify which wire goes from the elecrical goes with which wire on the motor. Thanks for the help.<br /> Skip

Re: Connecting Plug

You might try cleaning the pins and sockets first. Otherwise the colors of the wire insulation on the boat side should match those on the motor side.

Re: Connecting Plug

In most cases the wire is stainless and the pins are brass ,as suggested clean the pins in the plug ends, use some brasso liquid then rinse it off and spray with silicon spray to get any water or moisture out if you replace the wires you will end up having more problems later on from the wires corroding.
