Just making sure, but when you put the end of the shift rod into the connector, you put it until the curved part is where the screw tightens down on it right?

thanks

Re: connecting shift rods

you nailed it. If not perfectly aligned the screw/bolt won't actually pass through the hole. Make certain the water tube is also ligned up with the water pump grommet or you can destroy the grommet and cause the pump not to function to it's capacity. Any word on that flywheel? Rick.

Not only that, but if not perfectly aligned, the screw will drag on the edge of the groove in the rod. That will wipe the threads off the screw every time. Then the screw will fall out 5 miles from the dock.

Use a flashlight to peer in there and make sure it is perfectly aligned before sticking the screw in the hole.

Re: connecting shift rods

flywheel finally came off...i put a piece of flat metal on top of the bolt and gave it a rap and it finally popped off.

Someone had the shift rods connect wrong before because one was completely smooth...I guess from not having the screw in there right.

Can these screws be found at any place? They look like an ordinary stainless bolt, but with fine threads.

is that correct? If so I will just go to lowes, or somewhere else. also, has anyone ever got one a tad longer and just used a nut on the other end?
