connecting throttle linkage after replacing impeller

tried to put back together, but the brass connecter stripped out. i have to go get another one. What is the best way to get it connected again? Does it have to be close to where i unhooked it? i know in my mind where both locking nut and brass connecter was when I unhooked?

Are you talking about your shift linkage rather than the throttle linkage?

Yes, shift linkage...........so, found out the brass cuplet or whatever u call it has left and right threads......I was putting it on wrong.
Will work it this weekend.............
