Connector to fuel filter hose size?

I have a 1987 Mariner 40 ELO and need to replace the fuel line from the connector on the motor back to the fuel filter on the block. Part # is 84956M but it and some numbers it superseded to are obsolete.

When it was available it was only $5, so it must be a common size right? Any idea on the size?

Most likely 5/16. If not, 5/16 would carry an adequate amount of fuel to feed a 40 Hp.
