conrod bolts on mercury

I am pulling down a mid 80s Mercury 150hp V6. Looked at the conrod bolts and they have a star pattern instead of a hexagonal head. What is the name given to this type of bolt and is the socket to removed this type of bolt available from tool shops.<br /><br />Thanking you in advance.

It'll take a 12 point socket to twist those puppies. They're either 3/8 or 7/16, can't remember which.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

Thanks for your time, Hooty. I have 12 point sockets but when I first opened her up had a look at the conrod ends I automatically assumed a special tool was required.
