Hi: I checked locally and there was none of the carb soak, so bought a container of the B12. After starting the engine I then added three times the normal amount, and within about 5 min. the engine started running much smoother. I let it run through about a half gallon of gas, and she is purring like a kitten now
As to the fast idle/choke, it was just out of adjustment. Apparently the choke was working, but the idle adjustment was off. Three or four turns of the adjustment screw and I've got that to rev up as well. I think the lock not had loosened over time, and the screw backed off a bit. So, very simple fixes. The B12 worked so well that I may use it as a normal additive, along with Sta-bil. As finicky as these carburetors are about ethanol-based gas, it's a small price to pay for peace of mind. I don't know how many threads I've seen on carburetor problems!
Thanks again for all of those who contributed. Looking forward to getting this out on the water, but unfortunately have just a few months to wait, like 7! I envy you folks who live further south, and get to enjoy boating nearly year round. We did at least get to a balmy 40 degree today.
Best,
Troy
