No I don't mean just the seal the carrier that seats into the housing that retains the seals. I'm having issues getting the old one out it has the 2 hole parrallel to one another the merc manual says to pry them out gently well it's getting pretty marred up from attemps but I stopped until I get further info on a full kits contents. Actually the impllar it's self is in excellant shape along wiith the housing and face plate it's the water hose adapter that is in **** poor shape more than kinda melted motor hit 240 on inital season start up shut her down no water in any of the upper hoses or passages so it was a no brainer where to look. Besides I have never changed it and it's the stock assembly. Any input would be great just waitin til Tuesday to get parts no boatin this holiday!
It depends which "kit" you are looking at.
The full water pump kit, which I purchased, part number 817275q05 does include the carrier assembly.
The part number for just the carrier assembly is 807929a1 if you're looking at one of the other kits.
I don't believe I will need every pc but it will probably be unavoidble to do the job correctly without having to do it twice. Any good hints on getting the seal carrier out?it appears to b plastic. It is currently soaking on penetrating fluid.
My seal was still good and not leaking so I did not need to replace it though the instructions made it seem simple to just put a screwdriver in each little hole, wiggle then push the handle of the screwdrivers down and it should come up.
There's probably some kind of right angle tool that might thread into the holes then pry up but the only other thing come to mind:facepalm: right now if the screwdrivers don't work is to maybe get a few threads on a bolt started then use the bolt as leverage to pry up.
No no not so easy on this one at least! prying did'nt do the trick and I have every size prybar Snap-on makes if I had a camera I would show you whats left a chisel and hammer and about an hour of delicately nibbling away at it got it out! and it needed it both seals where shot so I'm onto getting the kit and the seal retainer that must have been seated with some sort of lock tite.
