I have a 1983 johnson 115 hp. Running slow in the harbor for about 10mins and the buzzer starts to sound. I checked the flow from the engine and the water coming out is pretty cold water temp is around 68 still here (CT). Not sure why the buzzer is going off like that. It happened the other day as well and after about 5mins it went off. This time it didn't. Any advice would be great.
Thanks

Re: Control box buzzer

The tell-tale taps off the water supply as it enters the powerhead. It basically tells you the water pump is working. It will not tell you if the t-stats are functioning properly. Sounds like you need to check the running temperature of the powerhead. If it's too hot, replace the t-stats.

Re: Control box buzzer

im guessing to check the temps I have to use temp sticks or something alike. If the t-stats end up being bad, is it a hard fix? And also if it ends up actually being overheated what would be a troubleshoot method to find the cause? I've seen on the forum to start with the water pump?
Thanks Ray
