control box cracked! what to do now?

when putting in gear(forward) the shifting case cracked, small plastic peace fell out and a small metal pen.it doesn't look repairable
what is my next step?

I would look into an after market replacement. Most of them are simple and easy to install.

does it matter what brand or make? im guessing there pretty universal.

which control box do you have, pic ?

it is a us marine with tilt and trim. looks like the basic model compared to others with key cylinder and safety lanyard

Teleflex makes a generic replacement. You can get it from Overton's, West Marine, Iboats, etc.........
