control box identification

Can someone identify make, year , and functions of this box? What is bottom black button on rear of switch, where is key switch, what do the six wires from bottom of box control? Any help appreciated. Thanks

In my uneducated guess-a-mation, it looks like an OMC control unit (Johnson & Evinrude). As for the year, I have no idea. But I will say, it could be easily cleaned up and refurbish to look new again.

Probably so, except the wiring harness plug does not seem compatible. No OMC box looked exactly like this on internet search, but Googled Yamaha 703 control box and it is an exact duplicate,internally and externally..But wiring harness plug does not look compatible. Also, Yamaha was always normally grey not white as OMC

The key switch is the top black device on the end of the box. The black device below that is the safety (man overboard) emergency stop switch. A compatible lanyard and plastic key is needed to operate this. The large, black round deal inside the box is the warning horn (overheat). Flat lever is the fast idle lever. The red rocker switch on the throttle/shift lever is the trim switch. The extra bundle of wires with the plugs in the ends are the feeds to the console instruments (tach, trim, etc.).

I have a tohatsu box it has that connector on it was on my 1990s 90 hp. Maybe yours is an 80s control box from a white Nissan. If it is the 6 wires are for the tilt and trim and other things. They were not great about compacting the wiring in to one harness. The bottom button looks like a tether safety switch. I am guessing but the main black connector is identical to my tohatsu.

I guess it could be a Yamaha control and somebody may have modified it for the connectors. It is hard to tell some times.

No Title

I found this control box and engine connector finally on internet. It is a Suzuki box sz001 with 8 pin connector as shown in my photos. I thought these two black devices on rear of switch as was described above by Silvertip., However the top choke button does not have a key insert hole, only a small hole in center of flat surface as shown in accompanying photo and the bottom button , which I assume is a kill switch, has an unusual small, 1/8 inch diameter hole that I think is missing a part that goes in it that is removed when wishbone lanyard is pulled away. Can anyone reply why their is no key insert hole? Does anyone happen to know what year and HP model this fits? Overall in good shape and works fine. Originally someone had the handle on opposite side of control boxThanks so much for all the help
