Swapped a 50 Merc for a 50 Force. Having trouble connecting control cables. I left the original cables on the boat. The ends are correct fittings. One cable will connect fine. The other cable is extended to far when the throttle is in the neutral. I do not know how to correct this. Any ideas?

Re: Control Cable help

Usually the shifters are different. If you have a universal shifter(US Marine) you might be able to change the connections.
If it's a Merc it probably won't work.J

Re: Control Cable help

I own a 85hp Force. My suggestion is to get the Merc engine back ASAP. I have nothing but problems with this engine.

Re: Control Cable help

The Force pushes the boat better than the Merc, switching to the Merc is out of the question. OK, so I got new cables especially for the Force. When the Shifter is pushed to WOT it will shift into gear, but the throttle cable does not pull the throttle linkage forward. But if I disconnect the throttle linkage and go to WOT then the cable will pull the throttle linkage forward to WOT. I am still using the original remote controller. Could the controller really be the problem.

Re: Control Cable help

Got it! I flipped the controllers throttle linkage connection 180 degrees and it works!
