Control CMC PT&T from OMC controller?

I have an '87 Johnny 48SPL on my BW Striper 15. The (original, I think) controller has no PT&T switch on it. The controller is beat up and I want to replace it.<br /><br />I also hava a CMC 130 PT&T on the boat, with its own double throw toggle switch on the dash for controlling it.<br /><br />If I get a compatible controller that is equipped to run OMC PT&T can I use that switch to control the CMC unit by wiring it (the CMC unit) to the engine harness?

The omc pt&t switch in the controls is just a momentary on center off switch probably just like the cmc switch. As long as relays are used in the cmc kit I think it will work fine

it will work 100% just like stock. the trim button doesnt know or care what its operating, its just a mom on-off-mom on switch. <br /><br /><br />i think its a great idea and, honestly, i am also honored to be answering a post for the great one himself.<br /><br />you need one like THIS or maybe one like this.....<br />

What type of control do you have now JB? There are TNT switch kits available for some controls.<br />You can take a look at the BRP site at OB Accessories and choose Remote Controls. Here's the link....<br /><br /> http://epc.brp.com/default.aspx?brands=ej&lang=E <br /><br />Look at the products menu and choose OB Accessories. I looked at 95' year and found two different switch kits for controls. One for flush mounts and one for side mount controls.<br /><br />Give ya' some ideas anywho......

JB, I have that exact control in the photo, the switch for the tilt trim fell apart, i drilled a hole in the console hooked up a switch the kind that fall back to center when released it works great!

JB,<br /><br />Unless you want to replace the entire control box, just the handles will swap.

I think that would work, DJ. The reason I want to replace it is that the plastic facing on the handle is gone. I can live with the switch on the dash.<br /><br />BTW, the controller I have is a side mount with the squeeze handle.

JB,<br /><br />You don't have to live with the old box, if you do not want to.<br /><br />My point is that the handles, from various years, fit almost all OMC boxes that have red plugs. Just buy a handle that has the TNT switch and install.<br /><br />It's been a long time since I worked with a CMC unit, but I believe they are three wire also-easy.<br /><br />Remember, Green=down, red=nuetral/power, blue=up.
