I Have A Single Outboard With A Regular Forward And Reverse Control Handel In The Boat. I Can Not Find A Name On This Control And When I Am On The Sound Bucking The Waves I Can Not Get Any Friction On The Handle To Steady The Rpm. Is There A Standard Place To Find The Friction Devise Or Do Some Controls Not Come With One. I Have Looked And Cant Find Anything To Solve This Problem. At The Moment I Am Going To Stuff A Towel Or Somthing Between The Handle And The The Gunnal To Help But I Am Looking For A Fix. Can Someone Help?

I don't think anyone can answer your question without an idea of what control you have. No, no "standard" place, and no, not all even have a friction device.

Re: Control Handle Movement

I find this post interesting, as it deal's with something I never noticed. In my year's of owning, and testing boat's, I alway's drove with my right hand on the throttle lever, as it seemed the natural, and safe way to do it. Looking at it now, If I ran across a control that was stiff enough to stay in one position, hand's off, I would look for the problem.

A popular item on bass, or performance boats' is a foot throttle, making it possible for both hands' on the wheel. I never really had a enough experience using this set-up to become good at it. Docking alway's seemed somewhat different.
