Controls for 1975 70HP Evinrude

Hi all,<br /><br /> I've been considering purchasing this motor but the man isn't going to sell the controls with it. I'm used to a Chrysler so the controls are very different.<br /><br /> I noticed that there is a harness that plugs in to the engine from the controller. But then there are also 2 other wires that connect to the engine also. What do these wires go too?<br /><br /> I believe this controller is an Evinrude Power Pilot. Would I have to find this exact controller or is there a variety of controls that would work?<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />Shane

Hey turtle<br />I don't know if it will work or not. but I just bought a control box with keys, cables, the hole setup on ebay for $155 works great. That was for a 79 merc 80hp<br />Jim

Turtle,<br /><br />You need the the OMC control box. The wires coming out of them are:<br /><br />1. Main harness.<br /><br />2. (2) gear shift/throttle control cables.<br /><br />3. (possible) power tilt/trim connections.<br /><br />ebay is a good source for these. You will find that many of the sellers have these items, and are not advertising them.
