controls for my merc1100

I recently bought a boat with a Merc1100 outboard motor on it. The motor is stuck in reverse, so i took apart the control box and noticed one of the cams was broke. i replaced the gear and now i cant get the control to move, although i can get the cable to move if i pull on it. But the boat still wont shift into neutral or forward. any suggestions?

Can you pull or push the cables and get it to shift?

Well the shift cable moves but im not sure that it is going back all the way. It still doesnt shift the motor

Disconnect the cables at the outboard and test it by hand. Controllers are out there.<br /><br />-W
