Re: Controls Question

That has a large red rubber plug on the end of the electrical harness? That was good up to 1995 when they changed. There are adapters available.

Bill, just a word to the wise ....

Check price AND availability of the adapter harness.I see lots of what I consider 'active parts' coming up as No Longer Available.

DHP

Re: Controls Question

Thanks DHP.

I'm actually looking at a Rude 225 1996 model. Rather than replacing current power head (1990 175 Johnson).

Any advice?

Thanks,

Bill

Re: Controls Question

Yes Bill I understand. An adapter harness is required for your old controls to connect to the 1996 outboard. If you cannot get this harnes, your controls will not work.

DHP

Re: Controls Question

The adapter harness kit is still available (least it was in 05') PN 176349, to convert 96' and newer engine to a 95' or older boat (controls).

If you want to convert to system check at the dash, PN 176345 (this one is kinda pricey)
