Re: Controls

you have to have the cam in place, then the ball, spring behind ball, then slip the other end of the spring in slot. mash down, and install cover.

Re: Controls

Are you talking about the little spring/ball combo under the rectangular cover right in the middle of tahsasdaddy's photo? If so, that little spring-loaded ball is a pain.

I took my controller apart and found myself wrestling with that little bugger for a while. Just a little patience is required, and it helps to have the controller in a position that gives you best amount of elbow room. Oh yeah, that little ball can shoot out and find all sorts of nooks-and-crannies in your boat. Then you have to try to fish the ball out - not that that would have happened to me...no sir:D

Re: Controls

Yep that would be the one does the spring go in first or does the ball go in behind the plate and the the spring....

I have it almost together except that dang spring is in the way I have pictures but don't know how to send them in PM and when I tried to up load them it said, they were too big....

Do you have to use a screw driver or some to push that spring back so you can push down... What a PITA...

Re: Controls

remove the screw in the center of the handle, to release the cam. then put the cam in the other half, line the center detent with the slot, now put the ball into the slot, and slide it into the dentent, now put the end of the spring against the ball, now with screw driver and you hand carefully push the other end of the spring into the slot, it is some time easier to let the spring bow up toward you doing this, but don't let it pop out. now press the spring flat. put the cover on. thats all there is to it. now you have to get the other parts to line up.

Re: Controls

I like the part where Tashasdaddy says "but don't let it pop out". that's what I was doing wrong. Darn - Nobody told me that part:rolleyes:

But I think I was trying to put the spring in wrong because when I put the ball end in first, it was easier. Having the spring bending up towards you was easier. Just getting the cover on before the spring escapes was my biggest problem. Sprongggg! Just took a few tries but finally got in done.

Good Luck!

Re: Controls

it took several times before it became easy. it's easy once you know what you are doing.
