Volvo has been using electronic ignition on the V8's since the early 80's

Mine still has points and rotor
post a picture. because going back to the 80's, they were all electronic ignition. starting with presolite distributors, then going to Mallory, then going to Delco

the early AQ200's did have points. however starting in 1984 the motors all got electronic ignition

I think a Gi would be a single point TBI efi engine with electronic ignition already...surely.

Are you meaning how to convert from mechanical throttle and shift to electronic? I have these same motors and would be curious as well if possible.

Mine is a 5.7 Gi-D and is a 2004 with MPI
Yours is younger because of the -J.
Shoud be MPI as well.
I'm confused.
I’m confused a little too. Always have been by some of the VP’s like this. I always though the Gi was the single point injection and the gxi was the mpi if you like. But I’m aware there is an osi that may be mpi too. You saying that the newer Gi is an mpi has thrown me another curve ball, haha.
