Re: convert from stick steer to wheel steering?
yeah I know its vague my bad. basically, was talking with my dad/grandpa yesterday at thanksgiving about the old 12' scout. they said I could have it if I got it fixed (toss new motor on it) so I'm going to pick it up on sunday...as of yet, I dont remember what the two motors were.
I'm still redoing the interior on my boat so I wanted something to get out on the water with in the meantime and up into the flats for some red drum fishing.
they've got an old 12' scout and its got a tiller steer 15hp engine that runs but is hard as hell to crank. dad came by a newer (I think late 90's) 15hp tiller steer engine that just needs to be swapped on and hooked up.
I cant stand tiller steer though (but will deal with it if I have to) and was wondering if all you do is pull off the tiller handle and find the correct controls setup to swap on to it is all as I dont want to keep thinking of it if not possible.
I just didnt know if the engine came from the factory setup for tiller steer if you could convert it to the opposite or if there was a design difference in the way the engines are setup is all.
does this make sense? lol.
