converting 25 to 35

i got 1987 evinrude 25 that im what to convert to a 35. i have heard of converting a 20 to 35. could all help me out on all the parts i need.

easiest way is to sell the 25 and buy a 35.

A lot less expensive and fewer headaches.

the 25 and the 35 from 1987 are the same size body.

The 1987 35hp was a marketing rating, not an actual rating. If you check it against the 30hp model from the same year, you'll see it is identical, part for part. So, bottom line is you might gain 5 actual horsepower on your 25 by changing bits around.

I don't have the parts lists in front of me at the moment, but typically, parts would include the carburetor and intake manifold as the major differences between the 25 and the 30/35. You can look at shop2.evinrude.com for the parts listings...

Yep, www.shop.evinrude.com is your best bet.

Look up and compare the 25hp and the 35hp parts lists, then buy all the parts from the 35hp list that are different from the 25hp list.

And then compare the cost of that to how much it would have cost to sell your 25 and then buy a 35.

its just the carb and intake manifold. Look for a pre-85 35hp carb or a post-85 30hp carb on ebay. You can buy an intake manifold to match or modify your current one to the larger diameter carb. Easy stuff, you'll probably gain a couple mph.

im wanting to run the motor on a lake where to can run nothin bigger than a 25. i thank it will work because found the thread on hear about converting a 20 to a 35 hears the link. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=274566
