Converting 25hp 2 stroke long shaft to a short shaft.

I managed to buy a brand new unused 2008 25hp yamaha 2 stroke long shaft. Is it possible to convert it to a short shaft.

my guess is it would be too expensive
new drive shaft, shift shaft, water tube, and mid section and then the labor to install them all
