Converting 58 rude to long shaft.

What years and hp's will work as donor motors to conver a short to long shaft. My dad has a good running 58 but his boat requires a long shaft.

Sorry should have said hp it's a 50 hp. Duh should have inluded that.

The 35 will take anywhere from '56 30 horse to the forty horse well into the sixties,but without knowing the HP of the engine you are talking about,it is very hard to say.

You are pretty much limited to the '58-'59 50hp because of the drive shaft. The rest of the extension parts should be same as 75hp motors of later years.

However there was a "heavy-duty" option offered on some of the later years 75hp which was actually the '58-'59 50hp gearcase, so those should work. But not many of those were ever produced.

Its a starflite 450 serial 50515-01795. Guess F.R. kinda narrowed it down though. My only other question is the later model 75hp that would fit. Can I tell them by measuring driveshaft diameter?

GW- I have a long driveshaft for that motor. I took it off my '58 Fat-Fifty. i do not have the other parts however.
