Converting a 6hp Evinrude into an 8hp?

does anyone know if it's easy to convert a 1986 Evinrude 6hp, model E6RCDE, into an 8hp? I know they make kits to do this for a 9.9 into a 15...

That's because most all 9.9 motors are 15 HP power heads that are reed valved and jetted down. I have a '71 6 HP johnson and that's all it'll ever be. If you want more HP you'll most likely need a different motor.

had in my hands 8 hp unit and 6 hp.
difference is in hole in carb mounting base (between carb and powerhead).
carb is propably the same-i ddnt compared carb throath-

The 1980s era 6hp and 8hp share about 95% of their parts. It's those last 5% that aren't all that interchangeable, though, as they share a different crankcase and intake manifold. If you stumbled across an 8hp shortblock and carb, you could do the conversion, but it's not as easy as just changing the carb...
