So first off i am a welder fabricator and have been searching the interweb for this and came up with nothing other than people have done it just no pictures or prints on it. I want to convert my only bumper pull boat trailer to a gooseneck for a couple reasons, 1) easier to pull and nicer ride. 2) this is my only bumper pull trailer and i hate bumper pulls, i have 5 trailers from 40 to 24 ft and semi trailers like they are going out of style. It would be a lot easier for me just to hook up to a gooseneck like i do everyday to other trailers.

Just wanted to see if anyone had any info on this, i can do it myself as i have been building trailers and and other things for the last 7 years. I have drawn it up on turbo cad and everything seems like it will work but i wanted to see if anyone had any first hand experience with this. its a 24' boat and a 29' trailer. Thanks all!

Re: Converting bumper pull to gooseneck

I'm doubting the cheesy thin tubing they make pull trailers from are strong enough to support the extra weight of a goose extension or able to take the extra bending forces caused by extending the lever that far.

You would be better off just building a whole new trailer out of thicker tubing to suit your intended purpose, it would be not be a lot more work since you already have the axle although you would need at least a double axle to carry the extra weight of the trailer and boat together.

Just because it's possible does not mean it's viable or safe to do so.
