I'm converting a 1993 Fourwinns 195 Sundowner from OMC to a complete Merc set up. When I get wiring harness to go from dash to engine plug will I have to modify dash end plugs or will they be compatible? Also will steering cable and shifter cable need to be changed? Thanks for any help.

Just to be clear boat has no engine inner or outer gimbal, or out drive. It has no wiring harness. The steering cable and shift cable are still there. I have purchased a out drive for a 350 merc and inner and outer gimbal set up with Rams and pump.when I buy wiring harness for merc will it hook up with dash and gauge harness or need modification? Same with steering and shift cable are they compatible or will they need replaced?

Ayuh,..... If ya get not only the motor's wirin' harness, but the boat side as well, it will have ring terminals for the gauges,....

Controls, 'n cables are usually manufacturer specific, or not,.... depends on exactly what ya got,....

Gauges are gauges, they will hook up and work if wired correctly
Unable to say if the shift cables will work, they may have different length stroke and pivot points. Need someone with a better understanding of OMC.
As for steering it will depend on the cable end and connection type, the one which connects to the power steering assist cylinder. Unable to say, hope an OMC guy shows up

So each gauge will have individual wires for them, there isn't a harness with a plug on the gauge cluster. I haven't looked and boat is still covered for winter. Getting ready for spring to get project going

Yes, look in the boatfix link in post 2. It's a PDF file which shows how each gauge is wired to the motor. The gas gauge will need an additional wire (pink) which goes to the sender in the tank. If you have a power trim gauge, this will be additional wiring
