My current project boat is a 1980 30 foot Velocity with twin engine set-up. This is just a hull. View at www.superiormgmtco.com
I've been doing research in past discussion but I still dont have a for sure direction. The transom cut outs are for TSR drives. I would like to replace with Alpha one. Now, I've been told I could use aluminum or stainless plate on the inner and outer transom for an adapter plate, or fill in the holes with epoxy & plywood, or re-build transom. At this point I'm open for any sujestions and any help is greatly apreciated

Although I like the Wood,+ Epoxy method,... There Might be some sort of adapter plate out there,.......

And,... While going to the current Mercruiser "Hole",......

I'd jump to Bravos for a 30' Boat of that nature,.......

That's WAY out of the Alpha League........... ;)

Re: converting from TSR to Alpha

I'll probably use the adabter plates with an epoxy build up. I know this in not the engine forum but I have a set of 350's and alpha one drives ready to install. I do plan on 454's w/bravos but not for a year or so. This boat is a working progress. I'm limited to a budget I'm 25 and dont make the big bucks yet. I guess what I'd like to know is will the alpha drives work with 350's? Or is the concern the size and weight? If I could make it through a season and attain a reasonable speed and sea worthiness I would be happy. What are your thoughts?

Thanks a million

If you can find the Adapter Plates,..... You Won't Need to refill,+ Recut the Holes,......
It's Usually 1 or the Other.........

Ayuh,..... The Alphas will Work,.....
Seaworthyness Isn't an Issue,......

With a boat That Big,+ Being a Hot Rod Boat,.....Being driven by a Young Buck who's no doubt Adrenalin Driven himself,.............

I see a Major Reliability Issue............... :D

You should save up for the Bravo's, Maybe sell off the 350's and alpha's to buy bravo's. Then shoe horn the biggest motors you can fit in there. I think a pair of 572's would about do it.

That is a great hull, and could be one seriously fast ride.
