1995 Century CC 20 footer with a Yamaha 150 outboard. Boat was basically a hand over to me and had sat on a lift for about 4 years. It's in fairly decent shape but needing some work here and there. I've alreadyt syphoned the stale fuel from the tank. Also the ignition key is missing so I was gonna replace it with another off the shelf ignition switch.
The ignition in it now is a wiring harness type switch with a sealed backing in which 7 wires come out (2 BLK, 2 YEL, 1 RED, 1 BRWN, 1 WHT). The extra wires go to the adjacent warning buzzer, separate choke switch and kill switch. Then of course there's a wiring harness main connector and a set of other single connectors. First time I've encountered a switch like this.
So anyways, was wondering if anyone has experience swapping this particular setup to a standard three pole (I, B, S) ignition switch using the existing wiring cut at the switch itself? I'm assuming the twin yellow and black wires from the back of the switch are common connections inside the sealed part and would be wired together on the standard switch. But what would go to which pole?
