Converting the 76 15hp ignition

I'm about to convert my Points/Condensor setup to CD Magflash. I have the flywheel, magplate and powerpack and the plate/bearing underneath just not correct coils. The coils on the 76 are BRAND NEW. From what I can see in the wiring diagram the stop switch is obviously wired different, the 2 wires that normally went back to the magneto would now have to go to the powerpack (1 from each coil). Will these coils work? A coil is a coil but I don't know if these were different for the CD besides the obvious wiring differences.

Anyone know for sure?

Thanks

The coils are different. My question would be: Why are you doing this? The old universal magneto was one of the most reliable ignition systems ever devised for outboards.

May be reliable however there are advantages- the 9.9 and 15 from that era were known for mag plate play which changed timing, CDI is much more accurate and and the plates don't have this issue. Magneto ignition while simple only puts out half the voltage of CDI, 10,000 volts vs 25,000+. I know the coils are different, I read a few posts last night on other sites where the same coils were used in the conversion and worked fine.

All done, awesome spark with the mag coils, so yes they do work.
