Okay, I do NOT remember receiving this 'packet' from the seller when I bought my Four Winns. I must've been in a complete fog.

Cleaning out the garage this morning, I found a legal-sized vinyl storage bag with '278' hand-written on it, buried under a bunch of crap. When I opened it I found the owners' guides for all the accessories on the boat, Volvo-Penta and OMC owners' manuals, and wonder of wonders... the 'build sheets' for the boat, signed by every member of the work crew who assembled it, AND.... TA-DA... the factory record of all the model numbers and serial numbers of the outdrives, engines and transom plates!

Folks, I've had my head buried in the bilge a half dozen times since I bought the boat, and I've been unable to find or clearly see any of the tags and markings that give that info. I'm so freakin' excited... I can finally post on the V-P forum! Was afraid to before 'cuz I knew Don S was gonna tell me.... 'give us the serial number and maybe somebody can help ya. without that, yer jes spinnin' yer prop, son'

:D

Volvo Penta and OMC??

Yup. A consequence of the 1990's joint venture between the 2. My outdrives are Volvo-Penta SX. My throttle/shift control unit is stamped 'OMC' on the side. You'll see here often that folks don't get much flack if they're looking to buy an OMC Cobra SX drive... that and the V-P SX are essentially the same drive.

Sweet. Wish I could run across all that paperwork for my boat.
