In the continuing saga from my other post in flushing my engine out from all the mud I sucked in, I pulled the cooling hose bracket off the fuel module to flush out the module. It looks like while trying to remove the bracket (because one of the plastic fittings was stuck) it got bent a little so when I put it all back together the plastic fittings aren't fully held into place with the bracket.
Can the hoses be easily pulled off the fittings (see attached pic...I copied it from another site) so that I can take the bracket off and attempt to bend back into shape? Space is a little tight to try and bend it back into shape within the engine compartment. Also, looking up info, I see pictures where the hoses are connected to the fittings and then a hose clamp is used to secure everything....my setup doesn't use the hose clamps.
Or do I need to get a whole new cooling assembly?

Use a hair dryer or heat gun on low setting. Heating it up should allow hose to be removed. Could also cut the hose to remove it and use some straight auto heater hose

Merc changed the pump and now uses screw in fittings and no bracket. Both old and new designs are dumb IMO

Sort of hijacking my own thread....same topic but slightly different problem.
Anyone know where to buy a new plastic fitting as shown in the pic in the original post?
Worst case I guess I could buy the whole new assembly. Could I just cut off the so called end with some of the hose (circled in red) and just tie it in with in-line barbs rather than trying to remove the fancy fitting from the main cooling loop?

See item numbers 7…. Might need your engine serial number to fine tune the correct part but in general you ought to be able to buy a new or used one probably on eBay using the part number.
That's what I'm wondering....do I need to buy the whole assembly? I can't find anyone who just sells the plastic connector.
I would need the 3 nipple version of that fitting.
Could I just buy the whole assembly and cut the hoses to the bracket/connector and tie them in to the existing hoses (cut them back a bit) with in-line hose barbs rather than try to remove the whole fitting from my engine and install the whole new assembly?

Maybe, never heard of anyone doing that but can see it being possible

As for the 3 nipple version would need your serial number?

For some reason the Merc parts catalog doesn't show the "Cool Fuel System" node for my serial number 0W061713. I can see it under the 5.0L MPI Alpha/Bravo, serial 1A300000 to 1A611927.
I did confirm, I have the 3 nipple version. I gave up trying to find just the plastic fitting and ordered the assembly and I think I have a plan to replace it rather than do my Frankenstein hack that I mentioned. I'm planning to disconnect the main loop hose from the sea water pump and power steering cooling and exh manifold and pull that whole mess out. There is just no real working room to replace the 3 barb fitting with it all on the engine.

Thanks for the help. Bought the new assembly and got it installed. Not as bad as I thought it would be. The trickiest part was getting that little stub of hose on the 3rd bard to disconnect and reconnect to that check valve off the exhaust manifold.
