When winterizing my 2005 4.3 MPI merc I search high and low, although its tough to see low, and could not find the cool fuel module.
I followed the fuel line as far back as I could from the fuel water seperator and still couldnt find a thing.

DO I have this? Does anyone have an actual picture of th eunit on the 4.3 MPI?

Love this site BTW, Been away for a while but I have to say, you guys are some of the smartest and most helpful folks on any forum. Thanks again

Have you downloaded the manual to your engine from the stickies section @ the top of this forum maybe it will give you some insight. ortry club searay.com all SEARAY owners there or try searays web sight q/a you can view your options for your rig there and your owners manual.

What is your Mercruiser SN. Merc doesn't list anything by year, only from 98 and newer. Then you have to go by SN.

What havasu said is true, never realized the 4.3 MPI's didn't have the cool fuel module, still learning
While you may not have the "Gen III Cool Fuel Module" you do have a fuel cooler. It's behind the port front engine motor mount.
To drain, just remove either the front or back water hose off the cooler and have the motor either level or down on the end you remove to drain it.

According to what I can find, there is a possibility of a 7 point, a 3 point, or a single point drain system. All of which use the blue plastic wing drain plugs. There should be no need to remove any hoses unless you suspect there is debris preventing all of the water from exiting the motor.

Re: Cool Fuel Or Not???

Thanks for everyone's replies!!
Finally, I got the answer I needed. I am thinking that I DO NOT have it since I have a spin on canister set-up.
I think I had asked this before and was told I did.
None the less just for peace of mind I went ahead and checked my manual and the engine SN is OW 338768.
I have read horror stories about these little buggers and I wanted to see what I was in for and also if I should be changing another filter......Guess not!:D

I have single point drain system so I dont remove any hoses at this point in time but I will be shortly to check for sediment.

This is one reason I am from the run till hot and drain, then backfill with antifreeze. Don made me very afraid of the possibility of trapped water from those blasted drain systems!!!
