Re: Cool Kicker.

I wish it was. My Dad had one on his little 10ft boat when I was a kid. It was one of those "no frills" motors. Direct drive, air cooled, no 180 pivot reverse and no kill switch. You had to turn the fuel tap off and drain the carb to stop it as it would run a good 10 minutes on the pipe full. Always started 3hp and would push some big boats around.
memories eh !!!

Re: Cool Kicker.

Heres another shot of a restored one. 3hp SeaBee circa 1959 (ish) 80cc Jap motor. Wish I could find one for an emergency kicker on my boat. Weighed in at around 20 lbs if my Dads memory serves him correctly. He also used it to push his 18ft silhouette sailing cruiser when there was no wind. Slow and steady but it did its job. He later graduated to a 6hp Evinrude fisherman with all the toys like seperate fuel tank, gearshift and liquid cooled so a lot quieter. He still has fond memories of the little Seabee though.

Re: Cool Kicker.

Still looking for one without success. If anyone finds or knows of one anywhere please let me know. My Dad is coming over to visit from England in September and I would love for him to see one either in my garage for restoration or the kicker on my boat.

Hey, Ive got an old craftsman 3hp with the tank in the hood. It burns reg gas with 50:1 sae 30w oil mix. Great for small boat or emergency kicker. Excellent shape. I want to sell it, but havent even tried yet.

Re: Cool Kicker.

a guy told me this was actually an Eska motor. 3h moves the old row boat just fine. Although... a reverse gear would be nice on that one. I just replaced it with a 9.9.. Somebody told me that that old motor is used as a trolling motor a lot of times... 360 degrees of rotation, I guess I could see that. Got any Idea what it may be worth?? It looks new!! I suppose it would help If I got the serial number.....

reminds me of the old 2 hp evinrude direct drive motor I had for awhile, one of the greatest little machines ever made. Wish I still had it, never failed.
