Coolant Hose Sealer?

I removed the thermostat housing and the hoses attached to it. The cast surface where the hoses slide onto is somewhat rough after I wire brushed the rust off. Should I put some sealer (RTV,etc) between the hose and cast nipple or will it seal with just the clamp?

I think it will seal just fine with just a clamp.

if the casting is so bad it wont seal without schmutz....get a new casting.

I was going to say what Scott did. If they hose and clamp won't seal it just get a new one.
