I am new to this boating business and just picked up a Johnson VX-10, '64 60 horse
and was wondering where I should observe water being exhausted and how much? I
have been told that I should see water spray coming out of the exhaust port and an
other opinion that it comes out just above the prop. Thanks

That is an oldie but a goodie engine.

For the most part, there will be a mist or spray along with steam in cool weather out the idle exhaust tube. When the thermostat opens, a heavier flow will result.
