I have cooling water coming out behind the lower engine mount and on the left side only on my Mercury 135HP 2 stroke. It’s definitely the heated water which should all be coming out of the exhaust! Any ideas how it’s coming out there?

You might check the hose from the powerhead to the rear of the lower cowling. Maybe that water was meant to come out the idle relief port, and it somehow leaks down into the midsection? Just a guess..

The gratings above the antiventilation plate are open right?

Sea Rider.... it only occurs when engine is running and thermostats have opened and my testing says its definitely after the water has ru through the engine. I'm tempted to just leave it as at least by then its done its job but it does seem quite wrong. If I remove the cooling water return hose off the fitting that enters the exhaust chamber and stick a garden hose onto that fitting, I get the same water leakage result coming from the same place so its clearly some connection between the exhaust chamber and this motor mount area. The service manual provides no detail of this area or what chambers exists.
Chris.... see above reply to SeaRider re the return hose.

Since that a XL motor and salt water use possible the only way water can leak from there is a bolt missing or hole eroded/vibrated thru midsection.

You were aware of this leaking situation or just called your attention lately ? Just curious, assume that the water flow exiting the hose is very strong and the pic was shot with engine ON, right ? If so why is there no water seen exiting through the prorp ? Does the pan aea under the powerhead remains dry while the engine is ON ?

Thanks all.
dukedog - I can now see that just behind the mount bolt there is a crack through casing which is where water would be coming from.
This is a new motor to me as it came on a boat I purchased recently. I just noticed the water coming from behind engine mount bracket and thought to ask why.
The casing underneath powerhead has no water leaking into it. It’s all coming out either prop or the motor mount.
What is dyna float cover?

that's tha name given lots older (pre V6) lower motor mounts.... jus "lower mounts and parts" now..

I wouldn't run it with tha down housing cracked at tha mount pocket.. crack will jus grow.

PO probably hit something at one time or another.. may not have even known 'bout any damage at tha time since its not obvious from tha outside.. tha bad part is tha power head has ta come off in order ta get tha down housin' off to be repaired or changed out...

Just a small chance of it, but some guys have a homemade effort at drilling into the exhaust chamber in the mid section...to make it sound better. Don’t suppose there is any sign of this ?

How did you resolve the issue with the cooling water leaking from behind the lower engine mount? I have the exact same problem on my port 135 Opti and I wanted to see how this was repaired.
