Re: Cordless drill Got a Rigid!
I've been reading the replies and I guess I'm the cheapskake in the crowd. Many years ago when my Milwaukee 12 volt drill crapped out because one of the two batteries failed, I was astonished to find the replacement battery would cost me $50. Then I looked around and almost all replacement batteries for name brand cordless drill ran about the same. Then the Milwaukee 12 volt charger failed and they wanted another $50 for that. I then discovered that Harbor Freight wes selling a 12 volt cordless drill for about $15 which included drill, one battery and charger. They were made in China and, I bought 3 of them and they have been fine. When the batteries crap out, I still have the drills which I can toss and they have lasted longer than the Milwaukee did. By the way I did manage to recycle the remaining Milwaukee battery since it came with two batteries and have a functional Milwaukee cordless drill with a single kluged 12 volt battery which I recharge with a 12 volt trickle charger, also purchased from Harbor Freight. For the occasional homeowner use these cordless drills get, they work fine for the money.<br />I'm sure the professional quality of the Milwaukee and Ridgid is worth the dollars, but I'm just too cheap for that kind of spending. I'd rather save my dollars for boating expenses.
