Core plug issue... 4.3 Mercruiser

It's not supposed to get cold again, so I went out and uncovered the boat. Hooked my battery up and went through my dewinterizing process.

Hooked up the muffs, got back in the boat to give it one more look over and what do I notice, a core plug out on each side. My boat was winterized, but now i'm a little worried that it's cracked. What would be the best way for me tell?

I guess if you paid to have the winterizing done I would make a trip back there and have them explain themselves. If you did it yourself, replace the core plugs and see what leaks -- if anything. My guess is that something "will" leak.

Grrrreeeaaaaat. I'll replace the plugs and put it on the muffs and see if I get any water spraying. I"ll check and make sure there is no water in the oil also. Anything else I should check?

So I checked the oil levels and everything was between add and full. From what I can tell, there didn't appear to be any water in the oil.

How many core plugs are there? The two plugs that I saw out were these. There is one on each side of the engine that is out.

Where would the others be?

Check it again AFTER you run the engine with all the core plugs in. you would only see a very small amount of water in the engine before running it, as the melting ice would run out the core plugs first, not into the engine.

If the oil level rises, you have a cracked block.

Well, that's what I thought... I checked what I could around the block and can't see any and I don't see any that have fallen out, so maybe this is good news!
