I am in the process of replacing the seals and gaskets in the lower unit of my 1998 Force 90. Seloc recommends that in salt water applications, such as mine, the gaskets should be first coated with a gasket sealer. Clymer advises that the bolts holding down the water pump base and the water pump, as well as certain rubber seals, should be coated with a threadlock cement like Locketight 271 (red). In your experience, do these pointers make any sense and should a person follow them? Please respond.
