So I have decided to change my 4.3's our for 5.7 vortecs.... My enging builder tells me that I should have somewhere in the range of 325hp each..
I currently have Edelbrock 1409's on the 4.3's.... my question is can I use them on the 5.7's or do I need to go up to the Edelbrock 1410?
I did rejet the 1409's to run on the 4.3's but I do not remember what I put in them... Ha tough to get old...
TIA

The 1409 CFM is 600, the 1410 CFM is 750
At 5000 rpm the 5.7 (350) will draw a max of 557 CFM. Boring out .030 to 355 max goes to 566 CFM

Your good with the 1409, but may need to rejet

The 5.7 is a vortec, roller motor with an upgraded cam and flat top pistons... not sure if that is relevant.... thanks for the info...

Will add, I listed max CFM above because that is listed as "race", meaning high flow heads/intake/cam. For the normal 350 it list 440 CFM

I've seen to many that think a bigger carb will make more power, so they do it, then complain that it don't idle right, and performance is no better. I'll rebuild what the factory put on and they are much happier.
Kind of like putting a three inch exhaust can on a Honda civic. Lol
